Walter "Walt" Taylor

Walter A. Taylor, 74, of Stanhope, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at UnityPoint ~ Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Walter Allen Taylor was born on January 3, 1952, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the son of Preston and Pauline (Sapp) Taylor.

Walt attended schools in the area of his birth, graduating with the Highland High School class of 1971. Following his education, he worked in the construction field with his father, and brother, Eugene building homes in Arkansas, as well as working as an over the road truck driver. Later he owned & operated Lucky’s Trucking, but continued to drive in-state for other companies until retirement

On December 24, 1988, Walt was united in marriage to Marilou Kay Jebron in Woolstock. In the early 1990’s they established their home in Stanhope, where they built a life and raised their family. Walt loved to fish and work on cars, but his greatest joy was his family. He was the kind of man who took care of the people he loved and could always be counted on. He was hard working, ornery, and loved to tease, but underneath that was a man with a huge heart who loved his family deeply.

In addition to his parents, Walter is preceded in death by his sister, Doris (Taylor) Price, brother, Eugene Taylor, son, Jeremy Thompson, and great-granddaughter, Kaira Marie Jackson.Hambleton

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marilou Taylor of Stanhope, IA; brothers, Jeri Taylor, John (Kathy) Taylor, and Leonard (Rebecca) Taylor; daughter, Jodi Jebron; grandchildren, Natasha Jackson, Mathew Jackson, Bo (Megan) Jackson, and Gunnar Berhow; great-grandchildren; Jackson Kastning, Elijah Kastning, Amira Jackson, and Freya Jackson; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
